Chevrolet Trailblazer: two powertrains adapted to your needs
August 29 2020,
The Trailblazer SUV is just taking its first steps on the market, but it's already gaining traction across the industry. This is partly due to its successful styling, but also to the diversity of its offer which includes front-wheel drive models, four-wheel-drive versions, as well as two distinct powertrains.
At first, the Trailblazer can come with a 1.2-liter ECOTEC turbo 3-cylinder engine, a mill that offers 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque (5,000 and 2,500 rpm), respectively). This engine is automatically served with the two base models of the Trailblazer, the LS and LT FWD versions. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard.
The front-wheel-drive LT version can also be fitted with the other engine offered by Chevrolet, a 1.3-liter ECOTEC turbo 3-cylinder. Capacity here is pushed to 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque (5,600 and 1,600 rpm, in order).
This engine is the only one that is possible with one of the four all-wheel drive versions (LS, LT, Activ and RS). The big difference is that here an electronically controlled nine-speed automatic transmission is associated with it.
At the pump, we do well with either solution. The 1.2-liter engine offers a rating of 8.4 liters per 100 kilometers in the city, 7.5 liters on the highway. Switching to the 1.3-liter block, the medians are 8.9 liters per 100 kilometers for city driving, 7.8 liters for highway driving.
